Summary

This website only uses cookies and similar technologies to provide essential functionality. No tracking or analytics cookies are used.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website. I use them to make CodesThings.com work correctly.

Essential storage

The following items are stored locally on your device, in your browser's localStorage or sessionStorage. They never leave your device, and are never sent to any server operated by this site.

  • theme localStorage

Your colour theme choice: dark, light or system.

  • nav-sections localStorage

Whether the section navigation on the homepage is switched on or off.

  • motion localStorage

Your motion preference from the settings menu: system, reduced or full.

  • campsnapFabDismissed localStorage

Remembers that the CampSnap prompt has already been shown, so it does not open again.

  • invaders-high localStorage

Your high score in the hidden game.

  • terminal-history sessionStorage

The commands you typed in the terminal, for the current tab only. It is cleared when you close the tab.

Third-party services

Fonts, icons and scripts are served from this site, not from third parties. The following services are involved:

  • GitHub Pages: this site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Subject to GitHub's Privacy Statement.
  • YouTube: the ZeroCalc blog post shows a click-to-load video. Nothing is requested from YouTube until you click it. After that, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, which may set its own cookies or log requests. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Managing cookies

You can manage or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Clearing local storage will reset your theme, navigation and motion settings, the Campsnap dismissal and the game high score.
